These new products claim to only use herbs that are safe to be consumed during pregnancy without any potentially harmful effects to the mother or the fetus. It’s not worth risking the safety of you or your baby on an untested and potentially harmful product.
One of the most common additives to tea in general is caffeine which is also found in popular soft drinks, energy drinks and coffee. Many women have reported experiencing adverse side effects while drinking caffeine during pregnancy. These side effects include dizziness, nausea, shortness of breath and even abdominal pain. It is probably a good idea to not drink caffeine during pregnancy and if you happen to be addicted to caffeine you should consult with your doctor.
As mentioned earlier it is best that your green tea and pregnancy wait until after the first trimester to help dampen any potentially harmful effects on the fetus. If, for some reason, you are absolutely unable to not drink green tea during your first 3 months of pregnancy, at least try to regulate your amount of consumption and drink less than usual.
